Elimination
Elimination is an important element of our nutrition as it benefits our whole body by removing waste and excess hormones.
o Bowels - Important to keep your bowels moving, with ease. Adequate hydration, drinking 2 litres of water a day is optimal. A teaspoon of ground flax seed in water can help keep the bowels moving. Barley Grass is another plant that supports bowel movement. When our bodies are functioning well, we should have a bowel movement after every meal.
o Kidneys – are our filters and again require water to function. Consuming animal protein in large quantities puts stress on our kidneys.
o Lungs – are our breathing apparatus. Smoking and mucous forming foods like dairy can prevent our lungs from functioning properly and should be avoided. Further to the note on air, deep breathing through our lungs is very oxygenating for our body.
o Skin and the lymphatic system – are essential to detoxification. Deep diaphragmatic breathing and exercise move the lymph and produce perspiration to remove waste. Skin brushing and hot and cold showers and sea swimming are very effective too.
