How does herbal medicine work?
Herbal medicine is rooted in empirical tradition, a holistic system of healthcare that uses whole plants, which have a complex array of synergistic compounds, to support the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of an individual. It is rooted in a vitalistic philosophy, which recognises the body’s inherent intelligence and capacity to heal when given the appropriate support.
Herbal medicine (also known as phytotherapy), is a gentle and effective way to restore balance to the body. It seeks to restore balance by addressing the root causes of imbalance and supporting the body’s eliminative, nutritive, and restorative functions.
Treatment is personalised. Formulae are formulated for the individual’s constitution with the help of iridology which are not based on a diagnosis alone.
The process always begins with supporting the body’s natural pathways of elimination, helping to cleanse and nourish the system so that healing can take place more effectively.
Herbal formulae are prepared for each individual based on the consultation process which looks at the symptom picture of the individual, their medical history and unique iridology insights.
How does iridology work?
Iridology is a safe, non-invasive assessment tool, a science and practice of analyzing the complex patterns, colours, fibres, and other markings of our iris. These features can reflect areas of strength and areas where the body may need support.
Think of the iris like a map, each part of the iris corresponding to different body systems which can give insights into our physical, emotional and spiritual makeup; our individual inherited tendencies, stress responses, and areas that may benefit from support.
What is the consultation process?
The consultation takes 50 minutes. It starts with taking an iris photo, followed by a detailed assessment considering the individual’s current complaint, medical history, diet and lifestyle.
What are herbal formulae?
Herbs are formulated on an individual basis. They are then mixed and dispensed in the form of tincture or dried in the form of powder of cut herbs. Often, an individual will get herbs prepared for them in all of these forms to be taken over a course of weeks.
Each herb is selected to support the individual on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual basis.
